The United States Air force F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team's mission is to showcase the world's most technologically advanced fifth-generation fighter jet. The Lockheed Martin Lightning II is a stealthy, multi-role, all-weather air-to-air, and surface attack fighter. The F-35 is designed to enable a direct attack against the most heavily defended ground targets.
The F-35A was designed to replace the USAF fleet of F-16 Fighting Falcons. The Lightning II has an enhanced capability to survive in an advanced threat environment in which it operates. With its aerodynamic performance and advanced integrated avionics, the F-35A will provide next-generation stealth, enhanced situational awareness, and reduced vulnerability for the United States and allied nations.
The F-35 Demonstration Team typically has 20 performances across the United States of America, performing on average an 18-minute extended profile. The team also performs with the Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation to create a unique demonstration of the U.S. Air Force's past and present. The team exhibits the professional qualities the Air Force develops in the people who fly, maintain and support these aircraft.
