The Fairchild Republic A‑10 Thunderbolt II is the United States Air Force’s premier close‑air‑support aircraft. Affectionately known as the “Hog,” the A‑10 earned its nickname for its ability to get low, get dirty, and protect ground troops in the toughest combat environments. The aircraft is famously rugged, built with armor plating and redundant flight‑control systems that allow it to survive direct hits from rounds up to 23mm. The A‑10 can even fly with one engine, half a tail, one elevator, and part of a wing missing — a level of toughness few aircraft can match.
The A‑10 Demonstration Team travels across the country to highlight the capabilities of this unique and battle‑proven aircraft. Their routine features selected maneuvers that showcase the Hog’s mission and the qualities that make it so effective in close‑air‑support roles. The team represents the pride, professionalism, and dedication of the men and women of the United States Air Force who fly, maintain, and support this iconic aircraft.
